meet chef lane karnS

Hello there, I’m Chef Lane.

I grew up in Bedford, a small town in Pennsylvania Dutch country. Meals were slow, thoughtful, and made with care—a rhythm I still carry into everything I cook today. From a young age I knew the kitchen would be my lifelong pursuit. At 17 I began my culinary career at a 4-Diamond resort in my hometown, diving headfirst into the rush and discipline of professional cooking.

After earning my degree from the Culinary Institute of America and training under three Certified Master Chefs, I found my way to New York City, working in Michelin-starred and fine-dining kitchens. It taught me precision, creativity, and hospitality—but no matter where I went, the flavors of home kept calling me back.

In 2023, I finally answered that call with Orenda. It’s my way of bringing the Pennsylvania Dutch flavors I grew up with to New York City, in a way that feels thoughtful, personal, and alive. What started as a small, homespun idea has grown into pop-ups across Brooklyn and Manhattan, where people can taste the comfort of home—reimagined for the modern table.

Orenda is more than food. It’s heritage, craft, and a little bit of heart in every dish. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you feel at home here.
